PDP Take Bold Decision On G5 Governors, Fayose, Others

The five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday stormed Ibadan, Oyo State capital for the flag-off campaign of their member, Governor Seyi Makinde.

Naija News had earlier reported that the governors were in the South-West state to support Makinde for his re-election campaign.

The event was held at the ancient Mapo hall in Ibadan, the state capital.

The governors who appealed to supporters of the party to support Makinde in his ambition to remain in office were, however, silent on their preferred presidential candidate.

There had been speculations that the five aggrieved governors would support a presidential candidate from the opposition party.

The governors had vowed not to support the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar due to the resistance of the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu.

The aggrieved governors had called for Ayu’s resignation over northern dominance in key positions in the party.

The decision of Ayu to remain in office has seen the governors consider voting for either the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu or the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.

However, on Thursday the governors failed to clear the air on supporting either Tinubu or Obi in the 2023 presidential election.

The governors while speaking at the event promised to unveil their preferred presidential candidate soon.

Other members of the group in attendance at the event on Thursday include Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Nyesom Wike (Rivers State) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State).
