EPL: Cesc Fabregas Returns To Arsenal
Cesc Fabregas

35-year-old Spanish professional footballer, Cesc Fabregas, has returned to the Emirates Stadium for a coaching career at Arsenal.

The former Spain midfielder would now work alongside his former teammate, Jack Wilshere, in coaching the club’s U18, Naija News reports.

According to the UK Telegraph, Fabregas, who currently plays for Serie B side Como was allowed to go back to London Colney and help out Arsenal’s Under 18s.

Fabregas had made his last appearance for Como on December 26, and the club had been on break until January 14.

Reports said the player had spent a few days at the Gunners’ training ground, where he worked with Wilshere to coach the young lads.

At his prime at the Premier League side, Fabregas made 303 appearances for the Gunners after joining the club from Barcelona at the youth level.

He netted 57 goals and made 95 assists for the club. However, after an eight-year stint at the Emirates Stadium, the Spanish World Cup winner parted ways and made his dream return to Barca in 2011.

Liverpool’s Virgil Van Dijk To See A Specialist Over His Injury

Meanwhile, to determine the severity of his hamstring injury, Liverpool centre-back, Virgil van Dijk will visit a specialist.

Naija News reports that Virgil van Dijk, who has been in every league game for Liverpool in the ongoing 2022-2023 season, was replaced at halftime in Monday’s loss to Brentford.

Although there is no estimate of how long Van Dijk will be sidelined, the injury seems more serious than first imagined.

Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, and Nathaniel Phillips are the Reds’ centre-back alternatives in the absence of the Netherlands international.

After Liverpool’s league defeat to Brentford on Monday, the club’s manager, Jurgen Klopp said: “Virgil felt a little bit the muscle and said it is fine, and he is a very good judge of this kind of things. But I didn’t want to take any risks.

“The physios looked quite happy when I said we don’t take risks. It’s not an injury, he just felt the intensity.”

This season, Liverpool has struggled with several injuries, with attackers Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota both fighting their way back to full fitness after serious injuries.
