PDP Ex-Spokesman, Dukku Joins NNPP In Gombe

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) governorship candidate in Jigawa State, Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim has slammed the federal government led by the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the recent hike in registration fees of public universities.

Naija News reports that Ringim on Tuesday after presenting flags to the candidates of the Jigawa North West Senatorial zone at Gumel blamed the APC for causing hardships and poverty among Nigerians with what he described as the party’s impoverished policies and programs.

He said the hike has made it difficult for poor facilities to pay the fees of their wards in universities, noting that several children of poor Nigerians are unable to complete their tertiary education due to some of these factors.

Naija News reported last week that Nigerian students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) complained of the same increments in registration and in some cases school fees for both fresh and returning students.

It was gathered that some universities that increased fees blamed it on the inflation rocking the economy in the country.

Reacting to the issue, the NNPP candidate stated that ” Universities have increased their registration fees, making it difficult for the poor families to send their children to universities or complete their studies.

“For a student who wants to study science courses must pay about N200,000 or above as registration fees in some of the Universities.

“For years Federal Government has failed overtime to invest fully in the sustenance of tertiary education thereby shifting the burden to parents.

“Therefore it is unfair for the Federal Government to shift the burden on parents with the poor minimum wage and other unnecessary hardship”

Ringim further noted that Nigerians have gone through many difficulties in the hands of both the PDP and APC, adding that it was time for them to both for competency and not allow politicians to change their minds with money.

He added that “Look at all the candidates in the NNPP and other parties, vote for us if we are competent and don’t vote for us if we a not, “
