On February 4 in New York, Amanda Serrano will compete against the reigning WBA featherweight champion, Erika Cruz, in an attempt to win her first undisputed championship.

WBO, IBF, and WBC champion Amando Serrano has the potential to become Puerto Rico’s first undisputed champion in the four-belt era.

The 34-year-old has accumulated 43 victories from 46 fights and nine world championships in seven different weight divisions.

“This is a pivotal moment,” Serrano said.

“Earning the opportunity to be an undisputed lineal champion is something most fighters only dream about but becoming the first boxer from Puerto Rico to be an undisputed champion would make it even more special.”

Cruz, 32, has only suffered one loss in 16 fights, and since capturing the WBA championship in 2021, she has successfully defended it twice.

Serrano defeated Sarah Mahfoud in her most recent match on points, giving her the IBF title.

The southpaw declared back then that she planned to capture the undisputed featherweight title before perhaps facing Katie Taylor, the undisputed lightweight champion, in a rematch.

One of the best fights of 2022 featured Taylor and Serrano, and the Irishwoman’s camp has been looking into the prospect of holding their rematch in Ireland in 2023.

Alycia Baumgardner of the United States squares up against Elhem Mekhaled in an uncontested match on the undercard, this time at super-featherweight.

After defeating Mikaela Mayer in October, the powerful Baumgardner, 28, now holds the world titles from the WBC, WBO, and IBF. She will compete against Frenchwoman Mekhaled, 31, for the vacant WBA belt.
