A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been reportedly killed in recent gunmen attack in Anambra State.

Reports obtained by Naija News on Tuesday revealed that at least four persons were killed in Awka, the state capital, in the bloody attack.

The fiery attack, according to reports, happened at one Chief Obi Maduka’s compound within Nodu town square, Nodu Okpuno. One of the victims, Kenechukwu Okeke, was said to be a chairman of the PDP in the area.

It was gathered that the gunmen arrived in the compound in a white-tinted Toyota Corolla, shot four people seated inside the compound, and fled, leaving them in their pool of blood.

Confirming the incident to SaharaReporters, one of the sources gave names of the four victims as Onyiebo Okoye aka Onwa, Kenechukwu Okeke (PDP chairman), Jude Ebenezer and Obinna Maduka.

According to the media platform, a gory video of the incident showed four young men lying down in their pool of blood as sympathisers lament the gruesome killing.

One of the sympathisers whose voice was heard in the underground said: “This one” pointing at one of the victims, “is still alive; let’s take him to hospital.”

Another source alleged that when the assailants stormed the scene, they could not lay hold on their prime target, hence began to shoot at those seen seated and being entertained by their host.

However, the Anambra State command of the Nigeria Police Force has not released any official statement on the incident as of reporting time, Naija News understands.
