I Look Forward To My Retirement – President Buhari To Burundi Envoy

President Muhammadu Buhari has told a Special Envoy from Burundi that he so much looks forward to his retirement after the 2023 general election.

According to the president, after satisfying the constitutional requirement of him serving as a two-term president, he looks forward to his retirement this year and the elections in February and March.

Naija News gathered that the president made this pronouncement on Tuesday at State House in Abuja when he received the Special Envoy of Burundi’s President Evariste Ndayishimiye, who came with a message.

President Buhari in a statement signed by the presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina told the Burundi Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Audace Niyonzima that Nigeria is willing to support the nation in any way it can.

The president pledged that in the spirit of African solidarity and brotherliness, Nigeria will support the Republic of Burundi in diverse ways as necessary.

On his part, the Burundi finance minister said his President, Ndayishimiye sent goodwill for the New Year to Nigerians and President Buhari.

He also noted that his principal as well wished the country well in the forthcoming general elections scheduled for February and March this year.

Niyonzima remarked that “We pray that the polls would be peaceful and successful so that Nigeria would maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability.”
