Due to the controversial celebrations of the Argentine goalkeeper, coach Emery promised to have a talk with him in December.

Martinez, who sat on the bench for his team’s victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, is anticipated to start against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday.

After a thrilling final ended 3-3 on December 18, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties in Qatar and the Villa goalkeeper was at the center of the victory and the celebrations.

“Now his focus is 100% with Aston Villa,” Emery said ahead of his team’s clash with Wolves which will kick off at 21:00 on Wednesday.

“For us he is very important and we can be proud of him for being a winner at the World Cup.

“He had training two days, Friday and Saturday, and now more sessions so I think he will be ready after his rest and after the emotion he had with winning this World Cup.”
