Bolanle Raheem: Osinbajo Contacts Family Of Female Lawyer Killed By Police In Lagos

Days after witnessing the heartbreaking departure of their beloved, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has contacted the family of a female lawyer shot dead by an officer of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos on Christmas day.

Recall that the pregnant legal practitioner, Bolanle Raheem, was fatally shot on December 25 by one ASP Drambi Vandi, an officer of the police force attached to the Ajiwe police division in the Ajah area of the state.

Bolanle and her husband, Gbenga were returning home on Christmas Day after an outing when the incident happened. The incident sparked outrage from Nigerians who called for justice for the deceased and her family.

The family of the deceased have been receiving guests since the unfortunate incident. Nigeria’s Vice President, Osinbajo, however, is said to have expressed condolences and prayed with the family over the awful event.

Osinbajo made a phone call to the deceased’s family during his vacation.

The number two citizen also assured the deceased family of justice and prayed to God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

Bolanle Raheem: Court Takes Fresh Action Against Killer Cop

Meanwhile, the Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos State on Friday took fresh action against ASP Drambi Vandi accused of shooting the pregnant lawyer, Bolanle Raheem.

Naija News recalls that the deceased’s had claimed that Bolanle was pregnant with twins when Vandi shot at her while on their way from an outing on Christmas day.

The state Attorney-General, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, filed a one-count charge against Vandi for the murder of the lawyer.

The charge sheet reads, “That you ASP Drambi Vandi on the 25th day of December 2022, at Ajah Road, along the Lekki Expressway, Lagos, unlawfully killed one Omobolanle Raheem by shooting the deceased in the chest contrary to Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”

The state appeared before the court for an order to remand the suspect in line with Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos, 2015.

The Magistrate, Adeola Olatunbosun, granted the order and asked that the suspect be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. She ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr. Jide Martins for legal advice.

The case was then adjourned to January 30, 2023, to await legal advice.
