No Worshipper Was Kidnapped By Bandits In Zamfara Mosque - Police

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that all the policemen attached to the Ajah police division in the state have been transferred out of the place.

Naija News reports that state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, took to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to reveal the development.

He made this known while reacting to a report by Punch that most of the policemen attached to the Ajiwe Police Division, Ajah, Lagos State, might be under the influence of alcohol while on duty and on patrol which inadvertently leads to the frequent extra-judicial killings in the area.

Naija News recalls that both the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Drambi Vandi who shot and killed a pregnant lawyer, Bolanle Raheem on Chrismas Day, and an inspector, Imeh Johnson who also killed another resident, Gafaru Buraimoh two weeks earlier were from the same Ajah division.

It was gathered that policemen attached to the Ajiwe Police Division, Ajah, Lagos State were claimed to be often visitors in drinking shanties around the location.

Reacting to the report, Hundeyin in a series of tweets on Monday noted that “I can confirm that this publication has been overtaken by events. The new DPO Ajah, CSP Adolf Ogwu, had earlier in the week dismantled all the shanties around the police station.

“In addition, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Abiodun Alabi, has already effected the transfer out of ALL personnel of the division, with replacement from other divisions. This would fully materialise in a couple of days.

“While appreciating @MobilePunch for the exposé, we encourage more Lagos residents to, as usual, say something whenever they see something, as this would translate to a better policing experience for all. Remember, security is everyone’s business.”
