The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel has revealed why he visited the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, whom he called his brother in Port Harcourt on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

Naija News reports that Emmanuel told pressmen at a briefing after a three hour closed-door meeting with Wike that his visit wasn’t related to politics.

According to him, it’s not the first time he is paying his brother (Wike) such a visit and it’s not new.

The governor was said to be in the company of his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom and reports are that he refused to disclose the details of his meeting with Wike.

Naija News however understands that speculations are that Emmanuel went to visit the leader of the five aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, popularly known as the G5, as part of efforts to broker peace between the group and the party’s flag bearer, Atiku Abubakar.

Briefing pressmen after the meeting in Port Harcourt, Emmanuel, who didn’t give a direct response to the reason why he visited, advanced that his visit to his Rivers State counterpart is based on ‘brotherly love.’

He stated further that “if it is politics, I would have told you I came in for politics. I came in to see my brother. Why are you asking me about the mission?

“I am in my brother’s house. This is not the first time, this is not the second time, and this is not the third time you are seeing me here.

“But I think this is the season of love. Within this period, you don’t actually demonstrate that love. Love not shown is love wasted. I think that is what we are trying to demonstrate.”

Naija News understands that his visit to Wike comes barely 24 hours after the G5 returned from their London trip.
