Photos: Moment Wike, G5 Governors Arrive In Port Harcourt From London

Five aggrieved governors of the People Democratic Party (PDP) tagged G-5 arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Friday following their trip to London, United Kingdom (UK).

The G-5 include Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

Naija News reports that the aggrieved PDP chieftains had jetted to the UK. There were speculations that the G-5 went abroad for a strategic meeting ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Recall that Wike and his team have consistently demanded the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu.

The party chieftains who found faults in the PDP leadership since the conclusion of the party’s convention in May 2022 are making the demand as a precondition to support the presidential ambition of Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections.

They have maintained that the PDP national chairmanship position should be given to a Southerner.

As it stands, there are uncertainties about G-5’s choice of presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections. Although the PDP governors have shown rejection of Atiku’s candidacy, it is yet unclear which candidate they would be supporting at the polls.

However, while they were in London, speculations are that the G5 are striking a deal with the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
