Six Die In Enugu Tragic Road Accident

The Osun State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has revealed that 313 road accidents occurred between January and November 2022.

Naija News reports that the FRSC Osun Sector Commander, Paul Okpe, disclosed the number while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo on Friday, December 30.

According to him, in the crashes that occurred within the state, 244 commuters sustained various degrees of injuries while 81 lives were lost.

Okpe said: “81 people died in 313 road traffic crashes in Osun State between January and November 2022. Also in the crashes, 244 sustained various degrees of injuries.”

Speaking further, Okpe also explained that the major cause of the crashes was traffic violations on the parts of the drivers plying the roads, especially Lagos-Ibadan to Abuja and other parts of the north.

He urged drivers to rest whenever they feel tired, adding that they should observe at least 30 minutes of rest after driving for a period of four hours.

Police Kill Suspected Kidnapper

Meanwhile, the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force said it has rescued a kidnapped victim in a recent gun duel with kidnappers.

However, a member of the kidnapping gang was killed by the police team, who acted on intelligence about the kidnapper’s movement.

Naija News learnt that the kidnappers abducted the victim (name withheld) at Ugborikoko on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.

The victim was said to be driving through the route at about 10:15 pm when the kidnappers ambushed him and zoomed away with his car.

The police command was informed that the kidnappers were heading toward Agbarho with the victim’s car.

Acting on information, the Divisional Police Officer Agbarho Division reportedly deployed officers to the Warri-Ughelli Expressway to carry out an intensive stop and search with a view to rescuing the victim and arresting the suspects.
