Paris Saint Germain and France forward, Kylian Mbappe has insisted that Argentina’s overly pointed World Cup celebrations are not his problem.

Recall that after Argentina defeated France in the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup via penalties, Argentine players led by the country’s goalkeeper, Emi Martinez targeted Kylian Mbappe in their celebrations.

First, Martinez asked his teammates to observe one minute silence in honour of Mbappe after the final. After that, the goalkeeper used a doll with Mbappe’s face to celebrate the World Cup win in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.

After sealing PSG’s 2-1 win over Strasbourg with a last minute penalty as Ligue 1 resumed with match week 16 on Wednesday, Kylian Mbappé told reporters that he has no concern how Argentina chose to celebrate their World Cup victory.

The 24-year-old French striker who is currently French Ligue 1 top scorer (13 goals) said: “I won’t waste any energy on such futile things.

“I spoke with [Lionel] Messi (Argentina’s captain) after the game a little bit. I congratulated him because it was the quest of a lifetime for him – for me too – but I failed, and you always have to be a good sportsman.

“But celebrations are not my problem; I won’t waste any energy on such futile things. The most important thing for me is to give my best for my club. We are waiting for Léo to come back so we can start winning games and scoring goals again.”
