Whatsapp To Stop Working On 47 Phones After December 2022 (See Full List)

Popular messaging application, Whatsapp will stop working on some mobile phones as from December 31, 2022, due to compatibility issues with their operating systems.

Naija News understands a total of 47 phones including some versions of iPhones and some android phones will no longer be able to use Whatsapp due to compatibility issues.

The development according to an announcement by the owners of the platform would affect millions of users worldwide as they won’t be able to get an upgrade after December 31.

The older versions of the phones that won’t be able to use Whatsapp include some versions of Huawei, LG, and Samsung phones.

Users of the affected phones would get messages on their devices notifying them they won’t be able to use Whatsapp again once the deadline expires.

A statement issued by WhatsApp on the development reads: “To keep up with the latest advances in tech, we routinely stop supporting older operating systems to point our resources to supporting the latest ones.

“If we stop supporting your operating system, you’ll be notified and reminded a few times to upgrade your device to continue using WhatsApp.

“Devices and software change often, so we regularly review what operating systems we support and make updates.

“These devices also might not have the latest security updates, or might lack the functionality required to run WhatsApp.”

“To choose what to stop supporting, every year we, like other technology companies, look at which devices and software are the oldest and have the fewest number of people still using them.”
