Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is mourning the death of Abdullahi Kanti, a council campaign coordinator for the party’s governorship candidate, Emmanuel Bwacha.

Reports reaching Naija News on Wednesday morning revealed that the Kanti was involved in a car accident on Tuesday, December 27, 2022.

The Karim-Lamido local government council campaign coordinator was reportedly driving to Jalingo, the state capital, on Tuesday when the unfortunate accident happened along Lau road.

APC has described the passing away of the party chieftain as a significant setback not only to the guber candidate, the campaign council, but the state chapter of the party at large.

Naija News reports that Kanti’s demise was confirmed in a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo today by the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign council, Aaron Artimas.

The statement quoted the guber candidate as saying Kanti’s death was a personal loss. While praying to God to grant him eternal rest, Bwacha said his campaign council “would miss a diligent politician and notable man of peace.”

Though the cause of the road mishap could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, reports said Kanti was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Oyo APC Chieftain, Adigun Is Dead

Meanwhile, Naija News reported earlier that an APC chieftain in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Noah Adigun, died of diabetes.

The party confirmed in a statement on Wednesday morning that the politician died after battling diabetes for a few days. The deceased was a former Ogbomoso North Local Government Area Chairman.

Adigun, fondly known as Oba Ni Jesu, died on Tuesday, December 27, at age 70.

The statement released by his party stated that the former council chairman died in a hospital where he had been on admission for diabetes complications for about a month. Adigun was said to have been elected chairman of the local government area on the United Nigeria Congress Party (UNCP) platform over two decades ago.

The deceased hailed from the Ologolo royal family of the Soun of Ogbomoso but grew up in the Oponlu compound of Okelerin.

Naija News learnt Adigun was a secondary school teacher before his foray into politics, and he celebrated his 70th birthday about two months ago. His wife and children survived him.

The party’s statement reads: “The All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogbomoso North Local Government regrets to announce the shocking death of one of its leaders, Hon Adigun Olatunji Noah, who passed away today after a very brief illness.

“Oba Ni Jesu, as the deceased was fondly called, was the former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government and a strong pillar of Akala Political Dynasty.

“May the Lord rest his soul peacefully, comfort the family he left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear this great loss”.
