James Maddison of Leicester City will not play against Liverpool at Anfield on Friday after visiting a specialist regarding his knee problem.

James Maddison, the 26-year-old midfielder, who was injured against West Ham in November before traveling to Qatar with England for the World Cup, did not participate in the tournament.

He was also absent from Monday’s 3-0 loss to Newcastle for the Foxes.

Leicester City coach Brendan Rodgers said: [Maddison] won’t be available for the game.

“He was with Mark [Waller], our doctor, getting some special advice in London today so I’ll wait to hear from them later on.

“He hasn’t trained with the squad. He was getting treatment out [in Qatar] and he and the medical team deemed him OK to train.

“He was available for games [for England]. He’s come back here, looked to do some work, and then felt a pain in a different part of his knee.”

Dennis Praet, a Belgian midfielder who was substituted against Newcastle United, won’t play at Anfield either.

Leicester’s first loss in three games now puts them in 13th place in the Premier League after 5 wins, 2 draws and 9 defeats.

The Premier League game between Leicester City and Liverpool will kick off at 21:00 on Friday. If Leicester fail to beat Liverpool, the club can fall as low as the 16th spot on the league table.
