Chelsea have made a proposal of €130 million for Benfica’s emerging sensation Enzo Fernandez.

Since the Argentine youngster won the Young Player of the Tournament award at the 2022 FIFA World Cup thanks to his impressive displays, Enzo Fernandez has emerged as one of the game’s most promising young players.

And it appears the Blues have made the first moves in their pursuit of Fernandez by submitting a sizable first offer, amid interest from many Premier League clubs. The 21-year-old’s release clause is set at £105 million, but the Blues are reportedly willing to pay more to secure an early advantage.

The Premier League team has placed a proposal of €130 million to beat out rivals Liverpool and Newcastle, the latter of which has supposedly already had a bid rejected.

Enzo Fernandez won the best young player of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on December 18.

The midfielder returned to Benfica’s training facility on Tuesday, and he has already discussed his plans to stay with club president Rui Costa.

According to reports, Costa is hoping to persuade the star by promising to win their domestic league and fight for the Champions League title.

Graham Potter has made Fernandez a target for a transfer as the Chelsea manager seeks to lower the average age of his present team.

Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s new owner, has made significant changes at the club, prioritizing the development of young players above older ones.

Potter and Boehly have focused their attention on Fernandez, who won the World Cup with Argentina in Qatar earlier this month, while midfield veterans like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer.
