NANS Reacts As FG Suspends Accreditation Of Degrees From Benin Republic, Togo

Nigerian students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone C, have admonished the Federal Government to honour its agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

According to the students it was high time the federal government concentrated on proper funding of the education sector.

Naija News learnt that the NANS in a communique issued at the end of its convention/election to elect new leadership held at the College of Agriculture Science and Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State said it was in the best interest of students if the federal government honoured their agreement to ASUU in other to avoid another strike action.

In the communique signed by the zone c executive members of the drafting committee, Kayode Adebayo and Muhammed Saba, the students also called on the governments at all levels to better fund security both in the north-central and the nation at large

The communique partly read, “The Congress affirmed its commitment, and dedication to the struggle of NANS against all forms of oppression against students in our campuses and called on the Federal Government to immediately honour the agreement with ASUU and pay the lecturers appropriately and in due course to avoid other actions that will be taken by ASUU that will put academic activities in quagmire.”

The congress in the communique also appreciated the commitment of stakeholders and leaders in zone c for always fighting for the rights and welfare of the students and also for the continued support enjoyed by its executives.
