2023 Presidency: Who Is The Owner Of The Mandate? Keyamo Raises Question

Embattled Director General of the campaign of the Labour Party (LP), Doyin Okupe, has reacted to a ThisDay 2023 Election Center Projections publication.

Naija News learned that projections published on Tuesday showed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, coming clear with massive votes in 21 states with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, also hopeful of garnering massive votes from 20 states.

Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, however, came third in the stats while the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, came fourth behind the former governor of Anambra State.

Reacting via his Twitter page, Okupe who recently resigned from his position as the DG of the Obi-Datti campaign following his conviction for receiving over N200 million cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA) Sambo Dasuki, said the ThisDay election projection stats are false.

According to him, the stats does not represent the actual situation on the ground.

Okupe expressed optimism that Obi will garner over 70% of votes in the South East. He added that the Labour Party presidential candidate will also garner massive votes in the South-West, South-South, and North-West than the projected stats.

He tweeted: “I wish to say categorically and with a very high sense of responsibility & objectivity, that the projections are false, bogus & do not represent the actual situation on ground across the nation. They are essentially aimed at misinforming the public.

“Peter obi will win and lead massively in the South-East averagely (70%) including all states in the South-South. In the South-West, Peter Obi will score min of 40% in Lagos. 25% in Ogun, Oyo, Ekiti & Ondo. Osun 15% minimum. North-West 40% min in Kaduna & no less than 10% of all the other 6 states mainly bcos of Igbo residents.

“Thisday projections ignored many important electoral parameters that have operated in our polity over more than 60yrs. Without any doubt PO will score 25% in no less than 24/25 states including Taraba, Adamawa & Gombe & will lead all the other 3 numerically. He is the candidate to beat.”
