Another Police Officer Arrested, Detained Over Killing Of Civilian In Ajah, Lagos

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest and detention of one of its personnel over involvement in the killing of a civilian in the Ajah area of Lagos State, Naija News reports.

The Lagos State Command of the force acknowledged in a statement released on Tuesday (today) that its personnel, Inspector Imeh Johnson, was involved in the unfortunate death of one Gafaru Buraimoh of Happy Land Estate, Ajah.

According to the command, the officer behind the shooting was immediately disarmed and has been detained, as a full-scale investigation has commenced.

“The Lagos State Police Command through the Area Commander, Elemoro and Divisional Police Officer, Ajah has since notified and Lagos State Police Command established contact with the family.

“The Command, while commiserating with the family of the deceased over the avoidable and most unfortunate incident, gives assurances that the already commenced investigation into the immediate and remote circumstances leading to the shooting will be brought to a speedy and conclusive end, while equally ensuring that justice is served,” the letter signed by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin reads.

Hundeyin noted that the erring officer is in detention at the State Criminal Investigation Department and further actions would be taken soon as the case is concluded.
