Rehabilitation Of Police Stations And Barracks Has Commenced In 15 States – FG Reveals

The Federal Government has revealed that work has commenced on the rehabilitation of police stations and barracks in about 15 states of the federation.

Naija News learnt that the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi made the revelation in Abuja during the ‘PMB Administration Scorecard Series (2015-2023)’ anchored by the Ministry of Information.

According to the minister, the states where rehabilitation has commenced include Kebbi, Edo, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, Plateau, Abia, Bayelsa, Nasarawa, Niger, Sokoto, Ogun, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

He disclosed that the project which is worth N5 billion aims at enhancing operations intelligence, and ICT-based apparatus to curb the trend of crimes in the country.

Dingyadi also disclosed that the government have approved the installation of intelligence equipment in Zone one and two headquarters and Force headquarters.

The minister advanced that among others things, the police have upgraded facilities in training institutions, constructed hospitals/health centres, equipped the FCT Command, rehabilitated the Detective College in Enugu, and established the Cyber Crime Control Centre.

Dingyadi noted that “The ‘NPF Rescue Me’, an application for emergency response; NPF Crime and Incident Database Centre; the Interpol Cybercrime Reporting platform at incb.npf.gov.ng is available 24/7 for the reportage of cybercrime-related complaints.

“Offences provided for by the Cybercrime Act, of 2015 include the production and distribution of child pornography.

“The Interpol cybercrime unit is empowered to mitigate possible cyber-attacks.”

He then appreciated the maximization of the Force Intelligence Bureau Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) and the Special Tactical Squad (FIB-STS) for their great work.
