Matawalle Reacts As CBN Orders Usage Of Old N500, N1000 Naira Notes

The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle on Tuesday expressed sadness over the death of some residents of the state caught in a military fire.

The victims had lost their lives during the Nigeria Air Force airstrike against bandits in the Maru Local Government Area of the state.

Matawalle in a statement released through his Special Adviser, Public Enlightenment, Media and Communications, Zailani Bappa expressed sympathy over the incident.

Bappa noted that the Zamfara State Governor is saddened that a number of civilians lost their lives in the airstrike.

The Governor said, “This unfortunate incident has come at a time when both the state government and the Nigerian military are poised to effectively end the menace of the bandits, especially by taking the fight to their enclaves.

“I wish to, on behalf of myself, my family, the state government and the entire good people of Zamfara State, extend my sincere sympathy to those who were injured and the families of those who died as a result of this collateral damage.”

Matawalle further stated that the state government had swung into action to address the remote and immediate causes of the incident to avert any further ugly incident in future.
