Kano Hisbah Storms Same S3x Wedding Ceremony, Arrests Attendees
Kano State Sharia police, Hisbah, has arrested at least nineteen youths in the state for attending a same-sex marriage ceremony.
The state agency enforcing Islamic religious morals revealed in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday that the youths were gathered to witness the wedding of two suspected homosexuals, Abba and Mujahid.
Hisbah was notified of the event and immediately deployed officers to the venue to arrest the citizens, the agency’s spokesman, Malam Lawan Ibrahim, said in Kano today.
Ibrahim said: “The arrest was made after a Good Samaritan hinted to the board about the same-sex marriage.
“Our personnel attached to Hisbah board headquarters, Sharada Kano, arrived at the scene before the commencement of the wedding.
“Among those arrested were 15 females and four males.”
He noted that Abba and Mujahid who were to be joined as husband and wife escaped the scene upon sighting Hisbah personnel arrived at the wedding venue.
The organiser, Salma Usman, 21, however, was arrested and in the agency’s custody, Naija News understands.
“Those arrested will be handed over to the police for necessary action as most of the ladies claimed they were invited to the wedding from neighbouring states.
“We shall intensify efforts to ensure that Abba and Mujahid are arrested,’’ Ibrahim noted, stressing that the board was determined to eradicate all vices in the state.
