Umahi Names Ebonyi Stadium After Abacha, Road After Anyim

Last weekend, Governor Umahi named the uncompleted Olympic stadium in Abakaliki after the late Military Head of State, Sani Abacha.

In a statement on Saturday signed by the spokesman for the governor, Chuks Oko, the State Executive Council approved the naming of the Olympic stadium which is under construction after Abacha.

Oko also disclosed that the state government also said it has named a new road in Abaaliki after former Senate President and ex-Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Anyim Pius Anyim.

He said the new centenary city ring road, which links the state secretariat and the new government house in Abakaliki, was inaugurated by the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, in November.

Oko said the state executive council approved that the road will be henceforth referred to as ‘Anyim Pius Anyim centenary city ring road’.
