Rivers CP May End Up Destroying His Career – Senator Maeba Fires Police Boss

The chairman of Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign council in Rivers State, Senator Lee Maeba has berated the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Okon Effiong, over alleged bias investigation on the attack of his property by suspected thugs.

Recall that CP Effiong had claimed that the attack on the former lawmaker’s Port Harcourt residence was stage managed.

Speaking last Wednesday, he rubbished claims by Maeba that the alleged gunmen destroyed his gate, wondering why the PDP chieftains exotic cars in his compound when the hoodlums invaded his house were not damaged.

He said: “The compound has two gates. We asked him how they entered the compound and he said through the fence but no part of the fence or the gate was damaged.”

While stating that Maeba has so far refused to write a statement concerning the incident, Effiong added that cars allegedly destroyed by the hoodlums were old model cars.

Warning politicians to leave the Police out of politics, the CP said: “I don’t know what has informed that, but I feel strongly that people should not use the police as a pond in a chess game.”

Reacting when speaking to newsmen on the sidelines of wedding ceremony between Ayibadiepriye Ruth Igali, daughter of former Federal Permanent Secretary, Dr Godknows Igali, and her hearthrob, Olufunso Ayodeji Ayileka in Abuja, Maeba said: “A Police Commissioner who conducted an investigation into an attack on my home within 48 hours.

“Have you heard that before? He did not ask me anything. How did he reach that point?

“The Commissioner of Police may end up completely destroying his career.

“We will challenge him in court to tell us how he came up with that investigation.”
