Qatar World Cup Final: Setback In France's Squad Ahead Of Argentina Clash

France’s national football team may have suffered a major setback a few hours before their 2022 FIFA World Cup Final in Qatar against Argentina.

Reports on Friday revealed that France players Raphael Varane, Ibrahima Konate, and Kingsley Coman showed some cold-like symptoms and could not train with their teammates.

An insider told reporters that the trio were not on the pitch on Friday when their colleagues were warming up for the Sunday clash.

The initial focus was on Coman. The Bayern Munich winger had already been forced to miss a training session on Thursday because of a light viral syndrome. The player was an unused substitute in the 2-0 win against Morocco in Wednesday’s semi-final.

France coach Didier Deschamps may be in a dilemma as its stands as Varane and Konate are unsure to play on Sunday. Naija News understands that the duo formed the central defensive partnership against Morocco.

Konate had replaced Dayot Upamecano in defence for the semi-final after he was ruled out by illness.

Adrien Rabiot, who has played a key role in France’s midfield in Qatar, was also sidelined with illness for the semi-final.

“There is little bit of flu going around but nothing serious,” France forward Randal Kolo Muani, confirmed during a press conference on Friday.
