Atiku Mourns Death Of 'Towering Political Figures', Akeredolu, Na'Abba

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has commiserated with family, friends and colleagues of the late Demola Seriki, who died on Thursday morning.

Naija News reports that Nigeria’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain died this morning.

His death was made public in a terse statement signed and released today by his family.

In a Twitter post, Atiku expressed his feelings about the demise of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.

Atiuk wrote: “On behalf of my family and team, I express my deepest condolences over the loss of Nigeria’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, His Excellency Ademola Rasaq Seriki. Amb. Seriki was a patriot who served the country meritoriously in different capacities.

“He was a consummate politician whose genteel mannerism bore a distinctive trademark in all assignments he undertook. May his sins be forgiven, and may Allah grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”

Seriki’s children had noted that their father died in Madrid, Spain in the early hours of the day.

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude to Almighty Allah that we announce the loss of our much loved and admired patriarch, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend,” the statement reads.

Ex-Minister, Akira Aliyu Bilbis Released From Prison

Meanwhile, a former Minister of Information, Alhaji Ikra Aliyu Bilbis, was released from prison last Wednesday.

Naija News reports that the PDP chieftain contesting for Senate to represent Zamfara Central in the 2023 general election was arrested weeks ago.

He was immediately arraigned before the Zamfara State Upper Sharia Court 11, over alleged criminal conspiracy and public disturbances.

The politician was alleged to have influenced the destruction of All Progressives Congress (APC) billboards and other properties in the state.

Bilbis was, however, released days ago under challenging conditions of producing a permanent serving secretary in the state civil service and someone who has a house in Gusau town worth N20m as sureties. Unfortunately, the former minister suffered continuous detention after not meeting the stated conditions. However, on Wednesday, 14th December 2022, Bilbis regained his freedom as the court granted him unconditional release.

The Legal Adviser to the state chapter of PDP, Barrister Shehu Ajiya, confirmed the development in a terse statement made available to newsmen.

The former minister was released on bail without any attached condition.

“At the resumed hearing of the matter on Dec.13, the presiding judge was not in court but later sent a notice of his release without any condition,” Ajiya noted.

According to the state PDP Legal Adviser, the case was adjourned to December 27th, 2022, for a hearing in the substantive suit.
