2023: Sanwo-Olu Receives Voter Cards [Photos]

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Monday, collected his Permanent Voter Card (PVC) at the state office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, who also accompanied his principal to the INEC office in Yaba, was said to have also collected his voter card.

INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Lagos, Olusegun Agbaje, and some staff of the Commission were on hand to receive the governor and his deputy.

Naija News reports that the Commission began the distribution of PVCs in all the 774 Local Government Areas in the country ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The governor alongside many Lagosians trooped to various collection centres across the state to collect their voters’ cards.

Recall that the commission had fixed December 12, 2022, to January 22, 2023, as the dates for the collection of the PVCs across the nation.

Meanwhile, INEC, in Lagos, has said 5,676,858 PVCs have been collected out of 6,630,661 received in the state from 2011 to 2021.

Speaking recently at a Stakeholders’ Meeting, the state REC said it is pertinent to note that as of December 2, 953,803 PVCs were yet to be collected by their owners.

Agbaje added that the uncollected cards and the expected PVCs for fresh registrants, transfers, or reviews from January to July, will be available for collection in all INEC offices across the state from December 12.

He stated that the collection of PVC by proxy will not be allowed and the collection of PVC is free.
