The Presidential Campaign of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the attack and attempt on the life of Senator Lee Maeba by unknown gunmen.

Naija News recalls that the hoodlums had invaded the residence of the former Senator on Professor Abowei Street, GRA, Phase 3 in Port Harcourt on Thursday morning.

Speaking with reporters on Thursday in Port Harcourt after the unfortunate incident, Maeba claimed that the hoodlums were after his life for supporting the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The former lawmaker said the gunmen injured at least three persons and vandalized about five cars during the deadly attack.

According to Maeba, his neighbors had observed strange movements around his residence before the invasion.

Maeba said a young man called him to warn him about the planned attack, adding that his house was attacked shortly after he went out to visit his mother-in-law.

Reacting to the attack, the Director of Strategic Communications of the PDP campaign, Dele Momodu warned that the internal crisis rocking the main opposition party should not result in bloodshed.

Momodu said, “Even the National Security Adviser last week, came out and he said that the President has clearly instructed them to do ruthlessly with troublemakers.

“We all know all the trouble spots. I’m surprised that after the President gave the instruction, some people still attacked the home of Senator Lee Maeba.

“The brother was told while he was being macheted, that if Senator was home, one bullet would have solved the problem.

“Yes, there are internal issues within PDP but that should not result in bloodshed. So those who are involved. I don’t want to apportion blame because I’m not a security agent.

“I have no facts of the case. And it’s even possible we could have been an opportunistic attack from anywhere we don’t know. So we appeal to our party members in reverse to cool temper.“
