A monarch in the Obot Akara Local Government Area (LGA) of Akwa Ibom State has pledged to reciprocate the goodwill of the state governor Udom Emmanuel to his community by canvassing for support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Umo Eno.

Naija News reports that the traditional ruler of Obot Akara LGA, Okuku Umo said its time to pay back all the good work of the governor to the people of his community.

According to him, even though the people of his community don’t know the Akwa Ibom PDP governorship, but they are counting on the governor’s goodwill to vote for him.

The monarch at his palace on Friday told pressmen that Emmanuel’s rural transformation programmes have opened up his community to commerce and engendered economic development among the rural dwellers.

Umo submitted that on that he and the people of his community would be would remain grateful to the PDP-led administration in the state.

He advanced that “Governor Emmanuel has done a lot of things but we will particularly commend him for Ekwerazu road and bridges. Successive governments had promised to fix that road but failed to do so. We can’t count the number of lives lost on that bridge.
“We will not cease to thank the governor that has given us that bridge and the road. This is one project I will not cease to say ‘God bless him.

“By helping to connect Obot-Akara with other parts of the state, myself and the entire Ikpe mbak Eyop and Obot Akara people as a whole will vote Umo Eno.

“This for us will be like a transfer of love for the bridge and other numerous projects the governor has provided for us in Obot Akara.

“You may not understand what those roads, especially the Nto Edino bridge mean for us. We have lost so many lives. Even if that was all the project the governor did, we would have been happy with him. But he has gone ahead to build another bridge at Ikot Amba and he is doing other roads here. We pray every day about the governor that God should bless him.”
