Dino Melaye Knocks Tinubu Over Gaffe That Students Will Spend Eight Years In School

The Chief Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dino Melaye, has berated the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, over his recent controversial comments in London.

Naija News earlier reported that the former Governor of Lagos State was seen in a viral video educating his campaign team on how to acquire power at all costs.

The APC flagbearer, who had appeared at the Chatham House in London, on Monday, spoke on issues concerning the 2023 election, economy, security, and foreign policy.

After the event, Tinubu and his team also had the opportunity to unwind from their stress at a private dinner where he educated them on political power.

According to the APC flagbearer, political power is not served in a restaurant or ala carte and a person must be determined to get it at all costs.

He noted that if taking over political power will involve fighting for it, an individual should snatch it, grab it and run with it.

Reacting to the comment in a statement on Thursday, Melaye accused Tinubu of being desperate to become President by hook or crook.

Senator Melaye alleged that the APC flagbearer plans to resort to electoral violence and other unorthodox methods of grabbing power in 2023.

The PDP chieftain, therefore, called on the international community, security agencies, and lovers of Nigeria’s democracy to do all that is necessary to forestall the plan to undermine the forthcoming polls.

The statement reads: “The desperation of Tinubu to be President of Nigeria at all cost, by all means, and by crook and hook, was eloquently evidenced in this his charge during his woeful outing in London.”

“A man, who played dumb, when asked critical questions on governance, suddenly roared into vibrancy threatening to snatch power.

“How else will power be snatched through the ballot box if not a resort to violence, electoral violation, and other unorthodox methods of grabbing power?

“It is now very clear why Tinubu refused to sign the Peace Accord. The international community, security agencies, and lovers of Nigeria’s democratic advancement are invited to do all that is necessary to forestall the power ambush and electoral mines that Tinubu is planting.

“Even in the days of military rule, a little persuasion was employed in political communication. Politicians, who truly want to serve will not insist on breaking the rules to ascend to power. The grand plot of Tinubu and APC to compromise the 2023 election is unabashedly expressed here.”
