An invitation has been extended to President Muhammadu Buhari to commission the newly constructed cell blocks at the Makurdi medium correctional centre in Benue State.

Naija News gathered that the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom invited the president to commission the project which was embarked on to curb jailbreak at the centre.

Ortom revealed this at a meeting with the people of Ugondo, the host community for the correctional service.

This development is coming about four weeks after his counterpart in the G5 or Integrity Group, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike invited the president and others to commission projects in his state.

Naija News reported that Wike had invited President Buhari, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole among several others to inaugurate some projects in the state.

The president inaugurated the finished and furnished world-class Nabo Graham Douglas Campus of the Nigerian Law School, Port Harcourt, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, on November 18.

Sequel to this, Ortom has also invited Buhari to commission a project in his state despite being a critic of the APC-led administration.

Ortom noted that the construction of the new correctional centres was necessitated by reports of jailbreaks across the country, including the one at Kuje Area Council in the FCT, among several others.

He also warned residents of the host community to desist from encroaching on land belonging to the service and any other federal agency contributing to the growth and security of the people of Benue.
