Imo Boxer's Death: Coach Reveals People Responsible For Igboanugo's Death

Death has been recorded at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State capital.

Reports obtained by Naija News confirmed that a fight between Chukwuemeka Igboanugo, who was representing Imo State, and Prince Gaby Amagor from Anambra in the 86kg category was stopped after the former slumped.

The Imo indigene reportedly lost the fight in a knockout stage against his opponent who was said to have given him a punch in the chin and the referee had to stop the fight when he (Igboanugo) failed to recover.

“He was immediately taken out of the ring for medical treatment before being rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” a boxing official, who spoke on condition of anonymity told Daily Trust on Tuesday (today).

Buhari Presents Two Nominees As CBN Deputy Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday requested the national assembly to screen his nominees as deputy governors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Naija News reports that the Nigerian leader forwarded the names of Aisha Ahmed and Edward Adamu to the Senate for confirmation.

As contained in a letter read on the floor during Tuesday’s plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Buhari asked the lawmakers to confirm the nominees to serve for a second and final term at the apex Bank as deputy governors.

Meanwhile, President Buhari is also asking the Upper Chamber to confirm the appointment of Ambassador Ayuba Jacob as a member of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Naija News reports that Aisha is the current Deputy Governor of the CBN. She was first confirmed for the position in 2018 after a screening by the senate.

As Deputy Governor in charge of Financial System Stability, she is responsible for leading the effort to promote a sound financial system in Nigeria; one of the principal objects of the Bank as specified within the CBN Act,” the CBN wrote about her.
