Bandits Sack Seven Villages In Kebbi, Sokoto States

No fewer than thirteen people were reportedly kidnapped when gunmen suspected to be terrorists invaded a mosque in Katsina State during the weekend.

Reports obtained by Naija News confirmed that the assailants, in large numbers, stormed Maigamji, a community in the Funtua Local Government Area of the state, on Saturday night and abducted the worshippers in a mosque.

According to the State Police Command spokesperson, Gambo Isah, the terrorists stormed the area shooting sporadically at the worshippers who were forced to flee for safety.

The people were observing the last prayer of the day when the terrorists invaded the mosque.

An Imam and another worshippers reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the attack.

Reports, however, said that the security operatives later rescued six among the 13 kidnapped persons.

“It’s true. Two persons were injured. They kidnapped 13 so far, and we are still looking for them. Six of the kidnapped persons have been rescued by the combined efforts of the police vigilante.

“The attack happened in Maigamji in Funtua LGA. It happened on Saturday night when the worshippers were praying inside the mosque; that was the last Ishai prayer,” Isah said.

He explained that those who sustained injuries had been taken to the Funtua General Hospital and were in stable condition as of reporting time.

Owing to the repeated onslaught of terrorists, many communities in the northern region have been deserted, with residents displaced, Naija News understands.
