PDP Crisis: Makinde Gives Update On Presidential Candidate G5 Governors Will Support

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has declared that the aggrieved Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are yet to take a final decision on the presidential candidate to support in 2023.

Makinde disclosed that talks are still ongoing with the leadership of the party hence it’s too early to unveil any specific candidate that will get their support.

The Oyo Governor added that the G5 Governors have placed a demand before the PDP leadership and are waiting for feedback.

He expressed optimism that a common ground will be reached ahead of the 2023 polls.

The Governor also added that steps are been taken to reconcile aggrieved stakeholders at the Oyo State level of the party as well.

Naija News reports Makinde gave the update on Monday while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after signing the Bill on Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo Law 2022.

Makinde said “It is not time. We are still talking. We have made some demands on the party. One day is a long time in politics. So, we are still talking and we are hopeful that some form of alignment will be reached at the end of the day.”

Naija News recalls the G5, made up of Nyesome Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) have insisted on the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the PDP national chairman as the only condition to support the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
