Apologise For Lying That Obasanjo As President Knelt Before Me - Atiku Tells Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC) said on Saturday that the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has tried his utmost best to reconcile with the G-5 governors but to no avail.

The G5 governors include Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Ifeanyi Igwuanyi (Enugu).

The party chieftains have become aggrieved since the conduct of PDP’s presidential primaries months ago. Their feud with the party leadership heightened after their call for the removal of PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, fell on deaf ears.

With less than 90 days to the 2023 general elections, the party’s PCC said Atiku despite his previous efforts proofing futile, is still ready to engage the five aggrieved governors.

The Deputy National Youth Leader of the party, Timothy Osadolor, disclosed this to newsmen during the weekend stating that Atiku never ran away from an opportunity to address the issues.

He said: “It takes two to agree. Unfortunately, our candidate is being made to face this kind of situation. Even though he has nothing to do with their demand (Ayu’s resignation), he has on many occasions, reached out to these aggrieved parties for a truce. You can’t be open to reconciliation and yet, you are not ready to shift ground. It doesn’t work that way.”

Removing Ayu Is Beyond Atiku’s Power

On his part, the immediate past National Secretary of the PDP and a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, said what Governor Wike and his allies were demanding is beyond Atiku’s reach.

He said the presidential candidate had done his best to reconcile with the Wike-led group, all to no avail.

Also speaking, the spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization, Charles Aniagwu said the reconciliation is dragging on because the governors had yet to realise that what they were asking Atiku to do with the removal of Ayu was beyond his powers.
