Top Nigerian Celebrities Who Were Robbed Abroad In 2022

Like the average human, celebrities are not immune to armed robbers nor the misfortune of being robbed of hard-earned belonging, especially in a foreign country.

In 2022, some Nigerian celebrities let down their guard in some of the countries they were visiting which led to tragic stories of losing their belongings to unknown robbers who invaded their privacy.

Here are four Nigerian celebrities who were robbed abroad this year.

Erica Nlewedim

Former Big Brother Housemate, Ngozi Erica Nlewedim took to her verified Twitter handle on July 28th to reveal how she was robbed at a Zara store in the United Kingdom.

She wrote: “To the person that stole my money, you will never make that amount of money. You won’t even make 10% of it in your life till you confess and turn in yourself to the police.

“I wanted to buy a particular bag. I heard the new naira price of a dollar I said no I’ll save my cash. And I left Harrods to enter Zara after queuing to pay. It gets to my turn and my bag is empty.

“They called the police cos (because) another woman complained about the same thing and her whole bag was stolen. We’re waiting for the outcome.”

Toke Makinwa

Former radio broadcaster cum vlogger, Toke Makinwa took to her social media to cry out, after losing all her valuables to armed robbers in London.

Narrating her ordeal, Toke said the robbers stole all her valuables and she is speechless over the incident.

The social media diva disclosed this tragedy on her Instagram story, where she wrote, “Just got robbed in London…. I’m speechless All my valuables are gone. Gosh how.”

Yemi Alade

‘Mama of Africa‘ Yemi Alade recently took to her social media to lament after unknown persons invaded her privacy and stole her money at a hotel in Côte d’Ivoire.

Naija News reports that the singer had visited the country for the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND), a 3-day gathering of creatives from Africa and the Diaspora when the incident occurred.

Narrating the experience, the 33-year-old singer said while she was away from her hotel room, her belongings were ransacked and all the money carted away.

She said: “A few minutes after I left my room, some unknown people decided to go through my things and steal all the money they could find. Very good.”

Damilola Adegbite

Nigerian actress, Damilola Adegbite recently disclosed in a recent post on Instagram that her phone and her several other valuables were stolen from her during a trip to London two weeks ago, she further revealed that after numerous attempts to get her phone back, she got a mail from Apple saying her phone was in China.

She wrote, “Got an alert from Apple. My phone has reached China before meIt is well. Just try and make the most of whatever situation you find yourself in as you aim for higher (position)!”
