Policeman Commits Suicide In Rivers State After Mistakenly Killing Colleague

The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Police Force announced on Thursday that it arrested no fewer than twelve criminals last month, including a suspected serial kidnapper, a scammer, and others.

The state commissioner for police, Mustapha Bala, confirmed this during his maiden press briefing a month after assuming office in Umuahia, the state capital.

Represented by the police public relations officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, Bala said the criminals were arrested at different locations for different crimes.

The police boss said under his watch the command is poised to maintain a peaceful and calm disposition in the state.

“To maintain and improve on this feat, the command is not leaving any stone unturned in her efforts towards fighting crime and criminality,” Ogbonna quoted the commissioner.

Speaking on the arrests made, he noted that the serial kidnapper belongs to a gang of dreaded kidnappers involved in kidnapping three persons from different locations and days for which he was paid about N2m as a ransom.

“Further investigation revealed that he was among the gang that kidnapped one Mrs Shullamit Shericks sometime in August 2022 and was released after a ransom of N3m was paid.”

Delta Man Flogs Three-year-old Child To Death For Visiting Neighbour’s Apartment

The police have arrested a 25-year-old father in Delta State for allegedly flogging his daughter to death.

The suspect, identified as Godsgift Uweghwerhen, was said to have descended on the three-year-old girl after she left home to visit their neighbour’s apartment.

The incident, according to reports, happened on Wednesday (yesterday) in the Aladja community in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

The innocent child was said to have been sick for some time, but her father reserved no sympathy as he canned and inflicted bodily injuries on her.

Naija News learnt that the suspect fled the scene immediately on noticing that the young child had given up the ghost as an aftermath of the merciless beating.

Nemesis, however, caught up with him at Ubogo community near Aladja as the Vigilante team in the area arrested him and consequently handed him over to operatives of the Nigeria Police in Ovwian/Aladja Division.

The Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday in a terse message without providing many details.
