2023: You Have No Electoral Value, Tinubu Fires Babachir Lawal

A former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has mocked the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over his visit to Ebonyi State.

Naija News reports that the APC candidate was in Ebonyi to flag off the party’s Presidential and governorship campaign rally ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The campaign flag-off took place on Thursday at the Pa Oruta Ngele Township stadium in Abakaliki, the state capital.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu vowed to turn the southeast into the Taiwan of Africa, as well as negotiate the peace of the South East region.

According to him, if elected as president his government would build the necessary infrastructure like roads and railways to attract investors.

Reacting in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday night, Lawal stated that Tinubu had said campaigning in the South-East was a waste of time and resources.

The former SGF said the APC candidate dismissed suggestions to campaign in the region during the ruling party’s presidential primaries.

He said: “During the convention, he didn’t even allow us to go the South-East. He said it was a waste of time and money.”

Speaking further, Lawal said the APC candidate stands no chance of winning the presidential election because of the Mulsim-Muslim ticket fielded by the ruling party.

The former SGF also disclosed that he has endorsed the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, for the 2023 presidential election, stressing that he is still a member of the APC.
