The mother of Canadian defender, Sam Adekugbe, was overjoyed to see her son play at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Hatayspor left defender, who is 27 years old, is a player in Canada’s squad for the current FIFA World Cup. The former Brighton player now plays for the Turkish Süper Lig club.

Recall that Canada on Wednesday, made an incredible effort but Belgium forced a 1-0 victory in their first 2022 World Cup game.

Canada was inefficient in front of the goal during their Group F match, especially after Alphonso Davies had a first-half penalty saved by Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Alistair Johnston required a strong stop from Courtois as well, but on the verge of halftime, Michy Batshuayi gathered a long ball from Toby Alderweireld and beat Milan Borjan with a left-footed finish.

Adekugbe, a Canadian left-back, was brought in as a replacement for the Belgians during the game, which caused his mother to tear up in front of the television.

The description of the video, which ESPN released on Instagram on Thursday, reads, “Sam Adekugbe’s mother, Dee, was so excited to see her son play for Canada in the World Cup.”

His mother in the video exclaimed in Joy saying, “My son is in the World Cup. Thank you, Jesus. Hallelujah.”

Adekugbe who has 35 international appearances and 1 goal to his credit for the Canadian side will be looking forward to showing an excellent performance for his team when they face Croatia on Sunday.
