Atiku Mourns Death Of 'Towering Political Figures', Akeredolu, Na'Abba

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential candidate, Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosed on Wednesday (today) that his principal, Atiku Abubakar, is planning to meet with G-5 Governors soon before the 2023 general elections.

The Delta State Governor said the presidential candidate would meet the aggrieved governors soon with the hope that all issues are resolved.

Naija News understands that the PDP chieftain said this today in Yenagoa after a meeting of the South-South Governors Forum alongside Governor Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom); Godwin Obaseki (Edo State), and the host Governor, Senator Douye Diri.

Recall that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies have been at loggerheads with PDP leadership since the conduct of the party’s presidential primaries months ago. The G-5 governors are demanding the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, among other things.

While all efforts to resolve the issues have proven abortive, Okowa debunked reports that the party had resolved to dump the G-5 Integrity group led by Governor Wike and forge ahead for the 2023 presidential election.

They Are Part Of The Family

Okowa insisted that claims that the party will dump the G-5 Governors are not true. He stressed that the aggrieved chieftains are part of the opposition family and that he believes there are issues, and these issues are being attended to.

“Very soon, the Presidential Candidate will meet the Governors. They are part of the family, and we will not allow them to go. There are many things being put in place to reconcile all sides and move together as one”, Okowa noted.
