Wayne Rooney has expressed his emotions regarding Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Manchester United.

On November 22, Ronaldo’s contract at Old Trafford was terminated, leading to his untimely departure from his boyhood club.

Naija News recalls that In the summer of 2021, the Portuguese attacker made a switch from Juventus to join the Red Devils on a two-year contract from Juventus.

The Five-time Ballon d’Or winner was supposed to serve out the remainder of his contract, but United let him go seven months sooner than expected.

Only a few days had passed since Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan, in which he made scathing remarks about the club’s hierarchy.

Former United striker, Wayne Rooney, who once shared the field with Ronaldo, has now asserted that the club was forced to sack Ronaldo.

The former England international claimed that Ronaldo’s firing was not unexpected because he had anticipated it.

Rooney was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying, “There was no other choice, but that’s a shame because he’s been a fantastic servant to the club.”

The DC United manager, who recently engaged in a verbal altercation with the Portuguese superstar, added that he wished CR7 the best of luck on his upcoming journey.
