Tottenham goalie, Hugo Lloris has tipped his countryman, Olivier Giroud to surpass Thierry Henry’s international goal for France.

The goalkeeper, however, thinks that the AC Milan forward should get more credit for the two goals he netted for France against Australia.

Giroud’s two goals during France’s World Cup triumph against Australia brought him to 51 goals overall, tying him with fellow ex-Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry for the most goals in a single season for France.

Naija News recalls that the Didier Deschamps’ men came from 1 nil down to defeat the Australians’ 4 goals to 1 in their World Cup opener on Tuesday.

France Skipper, after the game, said, “Unfortunately we lost Karim Benzema to injury, and we were all very sad, but Olivier deserves a lot of credit because he is an example in football because he never gives up.

“In the last few months he was in, then out of the national team, but in the end, you can always count on him.

“It’s a big achievement to equal Thierry Henry’s record and hopefully now he will go ahead.

“For all the team, it’s a good start and for a striker, it’s always good to start with two goals. He’s going to be full of confidence.”
