Germany Sends A Powerful Message To FIFA

Germany has taken an action that translates to a bold statement to FIFA during their World Cup opener against Japan.

The German players covered their mouths during a team photo before the game began.

The European country made a clear protest against FIFA’s ruling that their players would be booked if they wear the “one love” armbands in any World Cup game.

The “OneLove” armbands that the captains of several national sides such as Germany, England, and Wales were to be worn to promote diversity and inclusion.

A statement via the Germany National side’s Twitter page reads: “We wanted to use our captain’s armband to take a stand for values that we hold in the Germany national team: diversity and mutual respect. Together with other nations, we wanted our voice to be heard.

“It wasn’t about making a political statement – human rights are non-negotiable. That should be taken for granted, but it still isn’t the case. That’s why this message is so important to us.

“Denying us the armband is the same as denying us a voice. We stand by our position.”

Meanwhile, Germany’s goalie who led the side against their Asian opponent had his captain’s armband checked by the linesman to know if it has broken any rule or not.
