The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has again attacked the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, saying he humiliated former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Naija News reports that Wike recounted how PDP and Jonathan, who was the then sitting President and the candidate of the party, went to London to beg Atiku because he left the party.

The governor said Jonathan had to meet Atiku at the Dorchester Hotel in London to beg him to return to the party to support him.

Wike, who wondered why people forget things quickly, said “but Atiku gave Jonathan a condition that he must relinquish the ticket of the party.”

The five aggrieved Governors in the PDP identified as G-5 led by Wike have vowed not to support Atiku’s presidential bid until the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu resigns or is removed from his position.

The G-5 governors, which include Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State) Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo State) had pulled out of the party’s presidential campaign council due to Ayu’s failure to resign from office.

The Governors had condemned northern dominance in key positions in the party.

However, Atiku and Wike last week stated that they are ready to reconcile and work together ahead of the 2023 general elections.
