The PUNCH: The Federal Government has assembled a legal team to challenge the suit filed by domestic airlines seeking to stop the establishment of a proposed national carrier-Nigeria Air. It was learnt on Monday that the legal team of the government and a 10-man group representing the domestic airlines, would meet in court on Thursday in Lagos over issues pertaining to the proposed national airline.


The Guardian: With 95 days to the 2023 general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari, who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum Resources, is today returning with key members of his cabinet to Gongola Basin, bordering Bauchi and Gombe states to search for crude oil in a development that pits the politics of oil against the economics of hydrocarbon. He had done a similar thing close to the 2019 general elections.


This Day: Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, yesterday, told Nigerians that he would be the one actively in charge of the affairs of the nation, if elected president, and should, thus, be held responsible for whatever happened on his watch.


The Nation: The presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, yesterday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, cannot win next year’s poll without controlling Lagos, Kano and Rivers states. He wondered how the PDP would win without getting the votes of the three states.


Daily Trust: Community leaders and residents of Bauchi and Gombe states have called for job opportunities and a roadmap to a cleaner environment as President Muhammadu Buhari supervises the first oil drill in Northern Nigeria on today. They described the development as a new dawn in their lives but called on the president and other stakeholders to ensure their communities were not sidelined in terms of recruitment, decision-making, compensation and other opportunities.
