Adebutu Reacts To Vote Buying, Money Laundering Allegations

Drama unfolded in the camp of the factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun, Ladi Adebutu, as no fewer than four operational vehicles were retrieved from his former loyalists.

Naija News gathered that Adebutu at the weekend sent his men to retrieve four operational vehicles from his former loyalists who left his camp ahead of the 2023 elections in the state.

It was learnt that two of the vehicles were taken back from a former vice chairman of the PDP in Ogun state, Leye Odunjo, one from the party chairman in Odogbolu, Cornelius Ojoye and the last one from a former party chairman in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Muyiwa Ojebiyi.

Adebutu and four others were reported to have been dismissed as the Ogun state chapter governorship candidate due to alleged involvement in the manipulation of the delegates’ list used in the conducting of the May 25, 2022 governorship primary election of the party and flagrant disobedience to a court order.

Naija News however understands that there was an uproar at the Obafemi-Owode LGA when three members of Adebutu’s team led by his Chief Security Officer (CSO) identified as Toaster stormed the residence of Muyiwa Ojebiyi to retrieve the last operation vehicle, which was said to be a Sienna car.

Ojebiyi, confirmed the incident on social media saying “I want to notify the whole house that I received today the team Lado (Adebutu) sent to my house to retrieve the Sienna car, to God be the glory, I handed it over to them without any scratches whatsoever. They are three members, one Ladi CSO, Toaster and one Mrs Coker from Odeda. Thanks and God bless.”

The Ogun PDP Publicity Secretary, Akinloye Bankole, also confirmed that the cars were retrieved from the former party leaders.

In a statement he issued, Bankole alleged that the public information made by Ojebiyi to confirm how Adebutu’s men stormed his residence to retrieve the Sienna car was an attempt to whip up sentiment.

The Ogun PDP spokesman who said Adebutu’s action had precedents furthered that “Yes it is true. It happened yesterday (Saturday) when Hon. Ladi Adebutu instructed his officials to retrieve his Sienna bus he earlier gave out to the former party chairman, Obafemi-Owode, Muyiwa Ojebiyi. The vehicle was given to him and others as project vehicles of the Ladi Adebutu Development Organisation.

“As of the point of leaving the organisation by pitching their political support with another person, it is properly right to have relinquished all the property and the organisation materials in their custody.”
