2023: Wike Returns To Rivers State, Meets NNPP’s Kwankwaso [Video/Photos]

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Sunday night hosted the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his country home in Port Harcourt.

Naija News reports that Wike’s meeting with Kwankwaso came few hours after he met in Lagos State with other members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Integrity Group.

It was gathered that Kwankwaso, a former Kano State Governor, is in Rivers State for the commisioning of the Mgbutanwo Internal Roads, in Emohua LGA.

2023: Kwankwaso Speaks On Stepping Down For Atiku

Meanwhile, Kwankwaso has rubbished rumours of any plan to step down for the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking on Sunday in Lagos State during an interactive session with the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), Kwankwaso urged his supporters to disregard the rumours on social media that he has stepped down for Atiku or any other candidate.

He stressed that he was different from other candidates for the 2023 presidential election and was sure of making Nigeria better if elected as president next year.

He lamented the huge burden Nigeria’s debt has become on the country, recommending that the debts need to be re-negotiated and plans put in place for it to be paid off in a manner that won’t negatively affect the nation.

We have to sit down in negotiations and whatever it is, we have to have fresh air so that we can even pay them. These are things I believe that are necessary to do whatever we can to handle the debt issues,” he said.

Kwankwaso further stressed the need to get the private sector involved in reforming Nigeria’s economy adding that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) needs to be better managed “for the interest of each and everyone us.”
