Man United Moves To Terminate Ronaldo's Contract
Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United may have had enough of Cristiano Ronaldo as emerging reports revealed that the 37-year-old player might be on his way out of Old Trafford as the Premier League club commenced talks in response to his recent public outburst.

Before his trip to Lisbon in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the Portugal national team captain wowed sports lovers after he made wild allegations during a media chat with Piers Morgan.

Naija News reports that the Red Devils have expressed displeasure with the interview and noted that it would not be making further comments until its ongoing process reaches a conclusion.

Recall that staff were spotted at Old Trafford yesterday tearing down a big banner featuring Ronaldo’s photos.

Emerging reports on Friday, however, said Man United is exploring terminating the player’s contract. It noted that talks with lawyers over legal action are ongoing, as the striker has 6-months left on his current deal.

Without mincing words, Ronaldo during his meeting with Morgan accused his employers of betrayal and took swipes at head coach Erik ten Hag as well as the club’s hierarchy.

Responding on Thursday, the club said: “Manchester United has this morning initiated appropriate steps in response to Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent media interview.

“We will not be making further comment until this process reaches its conclusion.”

Under that agreement, they are obliged to “comply with and act following all lawful instructions of any authorized official of the club” and are not allowed to “write or say anything which is likely to bring the club into disrepute or cause damage to the club”.

However, United would have to establish the extent to which Ronaldo breached contract terms before determining what outcomes are possible.
