The camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar says reconciliation efforts are still ongoing with the aggrieved Governors of the party now popularly referred to as the G-5.

The Director of Strategic Communications of the Atiku campaign, Dele Momodu made this known during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday.

He spoke against the backdrop of the open support given by Governor Nyesom Wike to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi on Thursday during the commissioning of a flyover in Rivers State.

Naija News reports Wike had promised to provide logistic support to Obi in his ambition, which gave rise to speculations that the Governor and his allies might have concluded to support the Labour Party candidate for the 2023 presidency.

However, Momodu in his reaction said the Governors have not announced their intention to dump the PDP and Atiku, adding that the former Vice President has also not given up the chance of reconciliation before the 2023 election.

He added that Wike and his team would not leave the PDP without informing the party of their decision.

Momodu said: “On the issue of the governors, I am not clairvoyant. I am not a prophet. I have no idea whether they have dumped the party or not.

“The day they dump the PDP, they will announce that they have dumped the party and we will all know. So far so good, they are still in the party and we are happy they are in the party.

“There is still room for reconciliation, all they are saying is that they are not happy and we will continue to pray that peace reign in the party”.

Atiku Focused On Making Nigeria Better

Speaking further, Momodu described Atiku as the best man for the 2023 presidency, saying the PDP candidate is on a mission to save Nigeria.

“We had the best under that government and he was able to assemble the best brains at home and abroad.

“We are very proud of him and that is why he said he will continue from where he stopped. That’s why we have adopted ‘Recover Nigeria’ in our campaign message,’’ he said.
